Chincoteague Downtown Park is heavily used by powerboats and commercial fishing vessels and should be used only by Advanced paddlers or as an emergency landing site. Chincoteague Downtown Park has good access to Chincoteague Channel and the surrounding marshes. There is a floating dock at the South end of the park. Boats must be carried a few hundred feet from the parking lot.

Note: Beginners should avoid this area due to strong currents and the heavy recreational boat and commercial fishing vessel activity.
