The Virginia Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund (VCWRLF) provides low interest loans to local governments for the construction of facilities or structures or the implementation of best management practices that reduce or prevent pollution of state waters caused by stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces. Applications for VCWRLF Stormwater Loans will be accepted once each year, concurrent with the program's wastewater facility improvement loan applications, which normally occurs in July.
Stormwater Local Assistance Fund (grant)
In order to reduce non-point source pollution from stormwater runoff, the Virginia General Assembly included Item 360 in Chapter 860 of the Acts of Assembly (the Commonwealth's 2013 - 2014 Budget) which created and set forth specific parameters for the administration of the Stormwater Local Assistance Fund (SLAF).
The Director's recommended funding list is now available. Grants total $22.9 million and cover 71 projects in 31 localities.
The purpose of these grant awards is to support localities who are adopting local stormwater programs consistent with the Virginia Stormwater Management Act and applicable regulations. These grants are assisting localities in building their capacity to adopt and implement local stormwater management programs, including ordinance development, staffing and funding plans, development of policies and procedures, training and education, and the purchase of non-capital administrative equipment and tools.
