2006 results are for samples collected mainly in the Roanoke River and Rappahannock River Basins plus selected sites in the Potomac River, James River, Small Coastal-Atlantic Ocean drainages, and York River - Lake Anna watersheds. Special studies were conducted in the Chowan River Basin (Blackwater River and Nottoway River watersheds) for metals.

Special studies were conducted in the Tennessee-Big Sandy Basin (Beaver Creek and Knox Creek) and Roanoke River Smith Mountain Lake Watershed for PCBs and in the Chowan River Basin (Blackwater River and Great Dismal Canal - Lake Drummond Watersheds) and Dragon Run Swamp - Piankatank River Watershed for metals.
