Lamp Recycling Vendors

Actual recovery of the mercury and other materials can be conducted only by a facility licensed for TSD (treatment, storage & disposal) of hazardous wastes. There are no TSD facilities in Virginia.  However, there are various companies around the country that specialize in lamp recycling, and they usually provide for an array of shipping, collection, and other services. The Association of Lighting & Mercury Recyclers maintains a list at www.lamprecycle.org.

In Virginia, there are many environmental consultants and vendors who will provide for shipping to these facilities. These companies are typically licensed haulers of hazardous materials, and they should be able to help you with shipping requirements and recordkeeping.
